物质结构与功能调控研究所立足“注重原创基础研究,加强变革创新,促进成果转移转化”战略定位,以国家相关战略性、基础性、前瞻性重大科学问题为导向,以材料、能源、生物医学等领域国家重大需求为牵引,以“建立一流平台,汇集一流人才”为手段,服务国家“创新驱动发展”、“三个面向”和“一带一路”等重大战略,充分发挥基础研究的战略支撑作用。研究所从原子、分子、纳米等多个微观尺度研究物质不同层次结构、相互作用和性能操控,揭示新规律和新效应,促进新材料、新能源、先进制造装备等领域的核心关键技术突破,有重点地开展前沿科学研究、关键核心技术的变革、“卡脖子”问题的研发和科技成果转移转化工作,为相关领域的技术变革与创新发展提供源头供给和战略驱动,成功实现从基础研究、原始创新到应用研究的协同发展。

 

Institute of Structural and Functional Modulation of Matter is based on the strategic positioning of “focusing on original fundamental research, strengthening innovation, and promoting the transformation of scientific”, guided by relevant national strategic, basic, and forward-looking major scientific issues, and leaded by national demands in the fields of materials, energy, and biomedicine. The institute will take “building a first-class platform and gathering first-class talents" to serve the major strategies of our country, such as "innovation-driven development", "three orientations" and "One Belt One Road", and give full energy to the strategic support of basic research. The research institute studies the different hierarchical structures, interactions and performance manipulations of substances from multiple microscopic scales such as atoms, molecules, and nanometers, revealing new laws and new effects, and promote breakthroughs in core and key technologies in the fields of materials, energy, and advanced manufacturing equipment. The institute will focus on the development of cutting-edge scientific research, the transformation of key core technologies, the key point of "stuck neck" issues, and the transfer and transformation of scientific and technological achievements, providing our passion for the technological transformation and innovation development, and successfully realizing collaborative development from the basic research and original innovation to applied research.
